Purpose and Meaning

Set goals that have both purpose and meaning. To know a goal's purpose, ask yourself: What will achieving my goal bring to me or to others? To know a goal's meaning ask yourself: What will I be able to say about myself once I have achieved my goal?

Autonomy

Set goals that will serve as their own reward. Goals that are strictly based on monetary gains or the praise of others do not lead to long-term happiness. Its OK to have some of these but against the background of autonomous goals.

Set harmonious goals. That is, goals that are in harmony with the other goals in your life and things you view as being important.
